Summer Pools

Almost all of our homes come with a pool – we like to keep the design clean and simple but we get a lot of questions about them!

Here are our most asked questions:

  • We can do either salt or chlorine pools
  • Almost all of them have a sunshelf with bubblers and hole for umbrella
  • Standard code depth is 6ft
  • Pool surface is typically pebble tec
  • Pool coping and surround pavers are Shellock Pavers

Our Island Lighting Go-Tos

We typically do (2) lights over our island – depending upon the size of the island and overall layout.

We’ve been doing more creative island lighting like linear pendants or grand lighting.

Here are few of our favorite and classic go-to island lighting fixtures.

Our Top Interior White Paint Colors

Our top neutral paint colors post did SO well. You guys obviously like some paint guidance so we tweak this one a bit and focused on our top INTERIOR white paint colors. These are the ones we use the most and in various forms. You can always play with strengths and sheens which give paint colors a different dimension.

Our Grout Rule of Thumb

Grout can play an important role in design and shouldn’t be overlooked.

For us it depends on a variety of things, but if clients like high contrast and pattern then a grout that stands out is preferred. For some, they want a minimal grout line so we try to get the grout to blend in and make it hardly noticeable.

A lot of the spec homes we design are done in-house. We were on a Modern Farmhouse kick for awhile, like most, so we used bricks and slates to create that tone. Now we’re transitioning into Modern Cottage styles so we are experimenting with classic patterns and shapes but with a clean application. We’re still doing Coastal Modern projects which is in our natural wheel house  – think light blues, whites and shiplap.

With that though, grout can make a simple/affordable tile pop and look more expensive.

Bedrosians did a great infographic about grout below:

Grout samples aren’t hard to find – you can snag one online or at your local Home Depot.

Some of our favorite grout colors: Avalanche, Warm Grey, Cobblestone and Charcoal.

Our Top Neutral Paint Colors

We’ve been working on more high contrast projects as of late, with a variety of whites balanced out by grays and blacks.

Body color is typically a soft neutral and we accent with dark windows, shutters and drip edge colors. One of the most frequent questions we get is what paint color we used so we’re sharing a few at the top of our list right now.
